Good Vibes

There are many times in which a person finds themselves feeling low, run down, and frankly just overwhelmed by all of the things that are put forward by life in general. We go to our jobs and deal with animosity of the public, snarky attitudes of our coworkers, and to top it off, the printer just told you to remove the paper jam, and is still saying it even after you've removed all of the paper. I personally have found a way to not let things get under your skin. And it works pretty well!

Now with every good thing in life, this takes a bit of effort, but of course as with everything good in life, it is well worth it. Firstly, everything starts at the base and works its way up and out. And of course I am talking about our food and what we put into our bodies; believe me, it makes a world of difference. When I met my husband, I had been eating anything and everything, along with all of the chemicals that processed foods come packaged with. My skin was covered in blemishes (a problem I had suffered with since I was 9 years old), my stomach constantly hurt and I was either bloating or constipated, and I just didn't FEEL good. So, I began eating the way he did, which is make EVERYTHING, right down to our own condiments. This, along with simply going on more hikes not only help me shed the pounds, but also made my digestion problems obsolete and and my skin cleared up!

My skin clearing up was actually a huge deal for me, since the multitudes of dermotologists could never fix me. In fact, we decided to do an experiment with my skin, doing all homemade foods, that had the usual connotations with causing breakouts. Things like sugary treats, cheeses/dairy (I used to have a dairy allergy as a baby, so it was wondered if it was now causing breakouts), chocolate, caffeine, etc. I would load my body down with these things for a week, and nothing happened. Not a single pimple! The minute that the week came along that we stuffed me with processed foods? My face exploded over

night.

But along with the eating right concept, the step that follows takes just as much vigilance as does your ingredient analyses. And this is the training of a person's mind. I listened to a tape called "Feel the Fear...and Do It Anyway" by Susan Jeffers which really helped with this idea, but just because you listen to it doesn't mean it automatically happens. The underlying message is that our minds can be our own worst enemies; there is constantly a negative loop that just plays bad messages over and over. "I can't do it", "She looks terrible in that outfit", "This job is a deadend." Over and over these play, whether we consciously notice it or not. MANY times I feel myself lapsing back into these messages, and if I don't stop myself things can get really nasty for me. You have to realize they are there, realize when they show up, and make a conscious effort to stop them. Tell yourself "no, I don't feel that way." It helps to insert positive phrases in place of these negative ones.

Well! That is what I have to say on that topic for today! Remember, first and foremost, you must take care of yourself before you can take care of others. It all starts on the inside!
